Large Powerful and Imposing ceremonial bird or animal spirit mask from the BEMBA tribe from DR Congo.

Very nice vivid colors, large eyesockets, a pointed mouth and horns on the head. These masks fuctioned as ceremonial shields during circumcision rites in initiation ceremonies, are associated with hunting and cults of ancsestors.

The mask shows age related signs of wear and tear, but is in a overall good condition. Have a good look at the pictures.
