A beautiful KOTA Reliquary statue made of wood. The head of the figure is covered and decorated with very fine copper and brass plates.

This figures represents the connection between the world of the living and the dead in African art. Ancestors of high descent were honored through baskets that were guarded by this type of figures.
Good condition, very detailed work and a nice age related patina. On the left side of the head on the back a chip on the wood. The copper has been drapped around it. Have a good look at the pictures.
