Dwarfs played a very specific role in the Oba Kings court in Benin. They served to cheer the prince and to tell the truth on a lighthearted manner.

This bronze Benin Bronze Dwarf statues are of very high quality and made using the "lost wax" method, where the mold is lost during the casting process. Therefore, they are unique pieces. Due to the primitive process the object can shows some casting flaws, which gives it extra charm.
